Years ago, Rick Avello Sr. saw an opportunity to improve pizza toppings by offering a fresher, better alternative to canned mushrooms. Using a small warehouse and a delivery van under the name Queens Produce, he introduced quick-blanched mushrooms to local pizzerias. As demand grew, the business expanded, supplying food distributors and eventually processing millions of pounds of mushrooms each year.

The bond between the Basciani and Avello families goes back decades, with a friendship rooted in mutual respect and shared values. In 2025, Queen’s Produce joined the Basciani Foods family of businesses. This partnership strengthens their ability to deliver premium mushrooms nationwide, ensuring the same dedication to quality, service, and innovation for years to come.
